Best New Audio Gear from NAB 2025 for Creators and Podcasters

From handheld recorders to stealth IEMs, NAB 2025 showed off audio gear worth watching.

After a few years away, NAB 2025 proved it’s still the place to see what’s next in audio. From slick handheld recorders to nearly invisible IEMs, here are some standout tools creators and production teams should have on their radar.

Deity Microphones showed off the SF-1 shark fin antenna for better directional reception and their new DIFB IFB receiver—ideal for smooth wireless communication on busy sets.

Over at Sound Devices, the A20 Handheld mic impressed with swappable capsules and a smart antenna designed to reduce signal loss. It even made an appearance at the Super Bowl.

Sennheiser’s MKH 8018 shotgun mic stood out for its ability to switch between mono and various stereo modes like mid-side and wide XY—making it a flexible tool for location audio. Meanwhile, Zaxcom’s VRX-1, a VHF wireless receiver, defied expectations with clean sound and minimal dropouts in a crowded hall.

At the Zaxcom booth, Halter Technical debuted the Peeko IEM, a super discreet in-ear monitor perfect for on-camera talent. Radius Windshields showcased the Mini Alto, designed for quick swaps—great for fast-moving shoots.

Zoom unveiled the H5 Studio, updating its handheld recorder line with larger mics and pro-level F-series preamps. Saramonic’s TC NEO timecode box now competes with Tentacle Sync and Deity’s TC-1, offering wireless sync straight from your phone.

And Allen & Heath’s CQ mixers combine compact design with auto-mixing, a welcome tool for live or podcast setups.

NAB was also a reminder that networking still matters. For podcasters, filmmakers, and live sound teams alike, 2025’s tech pushes reliability, flexibility, and ease of use.
