"Shelby Oaks" Horror Film Completed with DaVinci Resolve Studio

Chris Stuckmann’s horror debut Shelby Oaks was completed using DaVinci Resolve Studio, showcasing its power for indie film production.

The supernatural horror film "Shelby Oaks", from writer‑director Chris Stuckmann in his feature debut, was completed using DaVinci Resolve Studio — the professional post‑production platform from Blackmagic Design. The software’s comprehensive toolset for editing, color grading, visual effects and audio post‑production helped the film prepare for its upcoming release.

While full disclosure of the post‑workflow details remains limited, DaVinci Resolve’s industry‑capable functions (such as HDR grading, neural‑engine assisted tools, multi‑user collaboration) are documented for similarly high‑end productions.

For Shelby Oaks, the hybrid narrative structure — part found‑footage, part faux‑documentary, part traditional feature — required a flexible post‑pipeline to blend formats, which Resolve supports.

The film also underwent reshoots and a new edit before its October 2025 release, thanks to additional financing from distributor Neon, helping Stuckmann realise scenes that were originally cut for budget reasons.

For creators, small production teams and content‑producers, Shelby Oaks illustrates how modern horror‑genre films can leverage accessible but professional‑grade tools like DaVinci Resolve Studio to achieve polished output — even with constrained budgets and mixed format workflows.
