Podcast Host Rankings by New Episode Share: December 2025 Insights

Spotify for Creators, Spreaker, and Buzzsprout led new podcast episode production in December 2025.

New data from Livewire Labs shows how podcast episodes published in December 2025 were distributed across hosting platforms — offering one of the clearest pictures yet of where fresh podcast content is being produced in the modern ecosystem.

The analysis independently verifies about 1.9 million new podcast episodes published that month, up roughly 13% from the previous month on a normalized basis, and identifies which hosting companies those episodes belong to.

At the top of the list is Spotify for Creators (formerly Spotify for Podcasters), capturing a 24.5% share of total new episodes — nearly one in four. This continues Spotify’s strong presence in the podcasting landscape, reflecting its deep integration with creator tools and its influence on where podcasters choose to publish. Spreaker sits in second place with 11.5%, while Buzzsprout holds 7.3%, rounding out the top three hosting platforms by episode output.

Other notable hosting services with measurable shares include Podbean (4.5%), Megaphone (4.4%), Omny Studio (3.6%), and Libsyn (2.9%). Smaller but still visible platforms like RSS.com, Acast, Simplecast, Soundcloud, Transistor, and Captivate also contributed to the episode mix, showing that a diverse set of hosting options continues to support podcast growth.

About 4.23% of new episodes in December couldn’t be linked to a known host — a reminder that not all publishing paths are easily tracked, especially as creators use custom domains, newer services, or redirecting CDNs.

This ranking gives creators and industry watchers a fresh look at where new content is being launched as the medium enters 2026 — with Spotify’s creator platform still firmly dominant, but with plenty of room for niche hosts and diverse tools powering the broader podcasting ecosystem.
