Fox News Faces Questions Over Actor Voice Use in "Life of Jesus" Podcast

Fox News’ new podcast uses voice performances from a 2010 audio Bible project, raising transparency concerns among actors.

Fox News Audio recently announced a new 52-episode series titled "The Life of Jesus Podcast," set to begin airing on November 30, 2025. The series is part of a licensing agreement with Gulfstream Studios, which repurposes content from "The Truth & Life Dramatized Audio Bible – New Testament", originally released in 2010.

The podcast will feature dramatized biblical readings with performances by actors including Kristen Bell, Sean Astin, Brian Cox, Neal McDonough, Stacy Keach, Malcolm McDowell and others.

According to Podnews, several actors listed as voice performers were unaware their previous recordings would be used in the new podcast. Representatives for Kristen Bell and Malcolm McDowell said their clients were not notified about the reuse of their voices in this context.

Fox News said all recordings were licensed through Gulfstream Studios, which retains the rights to the original audio Bible project. The network also said the material was obtained and used under the terms of that licensing agreement.

However, the original 2010 recordings were produced for a dramatized audio Bible project, not specifically for the Fox News podcast. According to Entertainment Weekly, internal emails from Gulfstream Studios advised involved parties not to publicly emphasize that the recordings were from over a decade ago.

No legal actions or formal complaints from the actors or their representatives have been confirmed.
