Amaran Ray 60c and 120c Deliver High-End Lighting in a Compact Package

Amaran’s Ray 60c and 120c lights combine pro-level color accuracy, quiet cooling, and intuitive controls in a compact form perfect for creators.

The Amaran Ray 60c and 120c are compact COB LED lights designed for creators needing high-quality lighting in tight spaces. Despite their size, these lights deliver strong performance, combining precise color rendering with smart usability features.

Key Features and Performance

Accurate Color Output:

Both models use Amaran’s OmniColor light engine, blending seven LED colors for superior color fidelity. SSI scores are strong, with 84 at 3200K and 82 at 5500K—even at just 1% brightness—making them suitable for color-critical work.

Compact and Creator-Friendly:

Their small form factor suits home studios and mobile setups. The 60c consumes roughly 85W, while the 120c draws about 140W, despite what the names suggest.

User-Centric Controls:

Bluetooth app control, NFC pairing, and Amaran’s “flow turn knob” make adjustments intuitive. Fans stay quiet under moderate use, and the lights include IP54 weather resistance for basic dust and splash protection.

Mounts, Modifiers, and Build Quality

Both lights use Bowens mounts and come with custom-designed modifiers like the OctoDome 30 and 120. The plastic body includes a composite Bowens mount and sturdy all-metal yoke, though larger modifiers may require grip accessories for proper tilt. A built-in strap holds the power adapter in place.

Power and Portability

Lights can be powered via USB-C with an AC adapter or with the $130 Amaran Peak battery for mobile setups. An included 4-meter IEC cable offers decent reach for small spaces.

Video Performance and Beam Spread

The 70° beam angle works well with Amaran’s modifiers, spreading light evenly. High-frame-rate mode supports up to 240fps without flicker, even at lower brightness levels.

Pricing and Use Cases

The 60c ($189) and 120c ($259) offer standout value. They're ideal for creators in home studios, streamers, vloggers, or educators needing professional lighting on a budget. For larger setups or high-output needs, Amaran's 360c and 660c models are better suited.
