Comedian's estate settles with podcasters who created AI routine

AI Update: Settlement in Carlin Case

The controversial "I'm Glad I'm Dead" podcast episode is now dead itself.

The release, published in January, was an AI-generated comedy routine based on the works of the late comedian George Carlin. Carlin's estate sued Will Sasso and Chad Kultgen of the Dudesy podcast earlier this year, demanding the removal of the episode. They cited copyright infringement and publicity rights violations.

The lawsuit has been settled. The episode has been removed from the Dudesy catalogue and social media sites, and Sasso and Kultgen have agreed to avoid using Carlin's image, likeness or voice in the future.

The settlement comes as actors, musicians, comedians and other creative artists fight for legal protections against AI-generated content.
