Spotify marked a defining moment for the podcast industry this week as the Golden Globes introduced a Best Podcast category for the first time ever. This historic inclusion highlights podcasting’s evolution into a global entertainment force and cultural mainstay.
To celebrate, Spotify is hosting “Golden Week” — a series of creator-focused events capped by a high-profile Nominees Night co-hosted with The Hollywood Reporter. The event features stars like Chaka Khan and John Legend, while spotlighting nominated shows like Good Hang with Amy Poehler, produced by Spotify’s The Ringer.
Since 2019, Spotify’s podcast library has exploded from 200,000 to over 7 million shows across 180+ countries. Its $10 billion contribution to the podcast ecosystem reflects investments in creator tools, monetization, and audience development.
Spotify executives emphasized their commitment to innovation, including enhanced discovery, multi-format storytelling and flexible earnings for creators.
