Cobra Records Releases Crystal-Clear Classical Album in High-Res Audio Format

Producer’s Choice, Vol. 2 uses Pure DSD256 to deliver ultra-realistic sound for classical music fans and newcomers alike.

Cobra Records has released Producer’s Choice, Vol. 2, a new album celebrating their 25th anniversary—and it’s made for serious sound quality fans. The big news? It’s mixed in Pure DSD256, a high-end audio format that delivers incredibly clear, lifelike sound.

The album features standout tracks from Cobra’s catalog, handpicked by producer Tom Peeters. What makes this version different is how it was made: instead of using a mix of digital formats, it was mixed and released entirely in DSD256, which keeps the sound more natural and realistic from start to finish.

In most recordings, sound is converted between formats during production. That can reduce the quality a bit. But this version avoids that, keeping everything in the same high-resolution format throughout—so what you hear is closer to what was recorded.

One highlight, the track “Fuentes si naceis” by Música Temprana, shows off what this format can do: rich instruments, layered voices, and incredible detail.

Cobra even offers free sample files so listeners can compare the new version with older ones. It’s a great way for anyone—even newcomers—to hear what high-resolution audio is all about.
