Apple is now broadly releasing iOS 26.2 and macOS 26.2 — and if you haven’t updated yet, you should do it as soon as possible. These updates bring a mix of critical security patches and useful features that improve everyday use of iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
The biggest reason to upgrade now isn’t the fun stuff — it’s the security fixes. Apple’s official security notes show that iOS 26.2 addresses more than 20 vulnerabilities, including serious WebKit and kernel issues that could allow malicious content or code execution. Some of these flaws were already being exploited in targeted attacks, making this an unusually urgent update.
On macOS, the 26.2 update (often called macOS Tahoe 26.2) includes the same important patches alongside general improvements and bug fixes to keep your Mac secure.
But these releases aren’t all behind-the-scenes security work. Apple Podcasts gets a notable upgrade: the app now offers automatically generated chapters and intelligent links that make it easier to jump around long episodes or revisit topics — a welcome enhancement for podcast listeners.
Other nice additions include enhancement to the Liquid Glass interface, new reminder alarms, AirDrop verification codes, and tweaks to apps like Apple Music and the Games app.
In short:
- Critical security patches protect your device from active threats.
- Improved Podcasts experience makes listening more flexible.
- macOS 26.2 brings the same protections and refinements to Macs.
