Knockout: SB Nation Axes Sports Podcasts

Sports podcasting took a hit last week, as SB Nation, a sports website owned by Vox Media, cut their podcast program.

The move affected dozens of podcasts, and represented the second round of cuts to the channel. Vox shut down multiple channels and podcasts last year.

Hosts are scrambling to determine if they could relocate to other platforms and continue their shows, according to several who spoke to media outlets.

The 'casts generally each focus on a specific team in major league sports, and cater to fans of particular teams.

Several hosts reported being locked out of accesses needed to upload even short goodbye messages.

Several podcasts previously cut by Vox have relocated and continue to produce episodes and content.

A Vox social media post congratulating podcasters and video creators for their 12 Webby Awards nominations published less than 24 hours before the cuts were announced.
